Biography
Olinka Domínguez
Olinka Domínguez Torres, Mexican artist born in Mexico City where she currently has her studio. She has a degree in Graphic Design with subsystem in Plastic Arts from the Universidad Iberoamericana, later she studied new techniques at AD’A (La Accademia D’Arte) in Florence, Italy. She found her calling at the age of 2, experimenting with wax crayons on the walls of her house.
Attracted to explore new forms of expression and communication, she collaborated in various advertising, marketing and corporate agencies, of course without leaving painting behind. In 2010, she developed the brand maríacreativa in which art is made in accessories, each accessory is a canvas.
In the search of her artistic voice, Olinka Domínguez’s works are a manifesto of creation of a different world. Each of her works are a window to the imagination of each viewer; having fun, analyzing, enjoying, healing.
She is known for her abstract creations and gold leaf, passing through realism with a palette of modern, fresh and cheerful colors… This is how she travels freely on the canvas, reflecting how she enjoys life, heals her wounds and squeezes every moment.
“The root of my creation is intuitive confidence. I follow my aesthetic sensibility, each color, each brushstroke and each movement is unique. I let my emotions flow. My works of art reflect the most intimate part of my being.
My motivation is to capture a moment, the moment of feeling. The materials begin to “speak” and give a response to inspiration.”
